St. Michael’s Fortress

St. Michael’s Fortress hosts two stages on SHIP Festival, DECK and HULL.

The revitalized Fortress of St. Michael in Šibenik was declared a Cultural Attraction in 2014 by the Croatian Tourist Board and is the recipient of the prestigious Grand Prix award for public relations. It is the oldest of the four fortresses in Šibenik and, alongside the Cathedral of St. James, is the most significant cultural and historical monument in Šibenik. The medieval fortress is the source of the city, which is first mentioned in historical sources in the year 1066. Through restoration, it is now possible to explore all walls and towers with an audio guide, and for the first time, the underground areas of the fortress are accessible, where 3D mapping projections can be viewed. The fortress has also gained new contemporary features, including an exclusive open-air stage with 1077 seats facing the sea, offering a view of the city of Šibenik and the Šibenik archipelago.
