Balkan Zoo is a band led by bassist and composer Mario Rašić, who has been promoting music rooted in Balkan elements through fresh, modern arrangements for over a decade. On their new album Recycle, this award-winning musician presents traditional Roma songs transformed into a progressive world music expression, thanks to top-tier musicians, intricate arrangements, and the vocal soloist, flamenco singer Nina Ćorić. With this project, the artists aim to shed light on prejudice while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Roma people, using music as a tool to inspire positive social change. Through their interpretation of Roma music, their goal is to build new bridges of understanding, friendship, and coexistence.
