SIGTRYGGUR BALDURSSON

Sigtryggur Baldursson is a director, educator, producer and musician, living in Iceland. He was Managing Director for the Iceland Music office from 2012 to 2024. He now works as a Special Advisor for the new Iceland Music office that was launched in 2024, and spends more time on music, education and writing.

Internationally, he is best known for his work as a founding member of Björk's first international band, the Sugarcubes, from ´86 to ´92, and is one of the owners of their longtime music label, Bad Taste (Smekkleysa). He has also worked extensively with Emiliana Torrini, Tomas R. Einarsson, film composer Johann Johannsson, and other Icelandic artists, as well as international artists like Howie B and Les Negresses Vertes.

He has written music for film and theatre and released numerous albums, both with his projects like Bogomil Font, Paddan, Rangifer Tarandus and Steintryggur, to name a few. He directs an award-winning television show for the Icelandic national television (RUV) about music, called Hljómskálinn. He published his first work of short stories in 2023 and is currently. working on more writing, education projects, and music.
